Young Republicans of New York to Discuss Persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church by Zelensky's Government

The New York Young Republican Club has announced an upcoming event featuring international lawyer Robert Amsterdam, who represents the interests of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church on the global stage. The announcement was published on the official website of the organization.

The event, titled “Zelensky’s War Against Christian Ukraine,” is scheduled for August 5. Organizers promise to address the issue of religious persecution and political pressure on the faithful of the UOC in Ukraine.

According to the event description, “this event will explore contemporary threats to religious, political, and personal freedoms, examining real cases to clarify how legal action serves as both shield and sword in the struggle against oppression.”

It should be noted that on July 10, 2025, international lawyer Robert Amsterdam, who represents the UOC, issued a strong statement urging Western investors not to invest in Ukraine due to severe violations of religious rights and the breakdown of the country’s legal system. His remarks came during the International Conference on Ukraine’s Reconstruction in Rome, attended by Western government officials. Amsterdam highlighted systematic human rights abuses in Ukraine, especially the repression of the UOC.
