Parliament Proposes Tougher Penalties for “Violating LGBT Rights”

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has registered a bill introducing criminal liability in the form of imprisonment from five to eight years for actions that will be classified as “violating the rights of LGBT representatives.” This was reported by MP Artem Dmytruk.

The bill’s authors include the head of the “Servant of the People” party, Olena Shuliak, together with several other members of parliament.

It should be recalled that former Russian Orthodox Church cleric, stripped of his rank, Cyril Hovorun, stated that traditional values in their classical sense have an “anti-Christian nature” and are harmful to the unity of Ukrainian Orthodoxy. According to the former ROC archimandrite, Orthodox clergy who actively promote traditional values do not actually adhere to them themselves.
