Moldovan Schools Introduce Guidelines Encouraging Gender Transition in Children

A new stage of so-called “European enlightenment” has begun in Moldovan educational institutions. The Ministry of Education has prepared manuals for teachers explaining how to encourage gender transition among minors and how to respond to disagreement with LGBT ideology. This was reported on August 14, 2025, by the Orthodox portal Tradition.

According to video materials published online, teachers are instructed to address students according to their “chosen” gender, begin sex education and discussions on gender identity from the early grades. Disagreement from parents or children is classified in the manuals as “discrimination.”

According to the portal, these recommendations have already been put into practice — in particular, in one of the lyceums in the city of Ocnita. The Tradition editorial board believes that this is not just a liberal agenda but a case of “forcible reformatting of society,” where the school is turning into a “laboratory of social experimentation,” and teachers are being forced to break not only the thinking but also the sexual self-identification of a child.

The authors of the portal are convinced that this project is a politicized initiative aimed at separating the younger generation from traditional notions of family, gender, religion, and national identity. They note that the appearance of such manuals is a direct result of the Moldovan Parliament’s ratification of the so-called Istanbul Convention in the autumn of 2021.

Earlier, it was reported that Moldovan President Maia Sandu once again stated that Russia is using the Orthodox Church of Moldova in its own interests to strengthen control over the republic. Sandu claims that Moldovans who go on pilgrimage trips to Russia are being taught how to organize and carry out mass protest actions.
