Khust Diocese of the UOC refuted slander regarding the secretary of the diocese

The Khust Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church issued a statement in response to publications on internet resources spreading false information about the alleged evasion of mobilization by the secretary of the diocese due to his wife’s health condition. The diocese confirmed that the priest’s wife is indeed undergoing treatment and rehabilitation at a medical center in the Czech Republic because of a serious health condition. This was reported on the channel of the Khust Diocese of the UOC.

“She has severe damage to her limbs (arms and legs), which makes her disabled and requires constant care. Therefore, accusations of the ‘fictitiousness’ of these circumstances are groundless and discredit not only the clergy but also a person suffering from a serious illness,” the statement said.

The diocese noted that in democratic societies, the non-involvement of clergy in military actions is a civilizational norm, not a reason for accusations. The Church called on representatives of Ukrainian media to observe journalistic standards and not to spread slander that harms the honor and dignity of people.

Earlier we reported that the Khust Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church refuted the information spread by blogger Vitaliy Hlahola about the alleged delivery of a church bell from Russia to Zakarpattia.
