The UOC has lost its dominant status in Ukraine, - OCU lobbyist Filipovich

Lyudmila Filipovich, a lobbyist for the OCU in the media, Doctor of Philosophy, professor at the Skovoroda Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, claims that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church has lost its dominant position in Ukrainian society. In her opinion, this is due to the fact that the UOC did not follow the “liberal path” chosen by the Ukrainian state. She stated this in a comment to DW.

«The UOC has lost its dominant status in Ukraine, cannot come to terms with this, and will defend it in every way possible. After all, this church used to determine not only church issues in Ukraine. In my opinion, our state is very liberal towards this church. The state does not prohibit anything, but only asks this church to make an act of civil courage and say to the whole world: ‘We are severing relations with the Russian Federation,» — Filipovich said.

Earlier, we reported that despite pressure and a de facto ban by the Ukrainian government, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church remains the largest religious organization in Ukraine in terms of the number of religious communities and followers. Even in Kyiv, the number of UOC churches is twice as high as that of the OCU.
