“They will continue to be governed by the ROC,” – expert on the fate of the UOC

Doctor of Philosophy and professor of the Ostroh Academy Petro Kraliuk believes that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church will defend its rights in court and will not rush to comply with the order of the State Service for Ethnopolitics to terminate its activities. He accused the UOC of seeking to appeal both to Ukrainian and international institutions. This was reported by the online platform I-UA.tv.

“Unfortunately, in the UOC-MP they believe that they must preserve themselves. That is why they will go to court and will not simply give up. They were not created in Ukraine just to surrender so easily. They will continue to be governed by the ROC. Let me remind you that during negotiations with Ukraine, Russia puts forward the condition that the activities of the Moscow Patriarchate in Ukraine should not be banned. That is why in the UOC-MP they believe that time should be delayed. Especially when negotiations on ending the war are underway. After all, they still hope that the issue of terminating their activities in Ukraine may be postponed or even resolved in their favor,” Kraliuk said.

It should also be recalled that the media lobbyist of the OCU, Doctor of Philosophy, professor of the Skovoroda Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Liudmyla Filipovych, claims that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church has lost its dominant positions in Ukrainian society. In her opinion, this is due to the fact that the UOC did not follow the “liberal path” chosen by the Ukrainian state.
