An Exhibition of 3D Models to Be Presented in the Refectory Church of the Lavra on the Feast of the Dormition

On August 28, 2025, in the Refectory Church of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, the administration of the reserve will open another exhibition, which will feature 3D models of Orthodox and Catholic churches, as well as the Luhansk Drama Theater and the “Ukraina” hotel. This was reported on the reserve’s Facebook page.

In addition, the church will host VR tours, with broadcasts of “musical compositions by Ukrainian artists and video installations that allow one to hear the ‘voices’ of monuments and immerse oneself in their space.” According to the reserve, such a show has previously been held in Finland, France, Germany, and other EU countries.

Earlier, it was reported that the acting director of the Kyiv-Pechersk Reserve, Svitlana Kotlyarevska, announced an initiative to paint over part of the frescoes in the Dormition Cathedral of the monastery. She stated that she dislikes the presence of UOC hierarchs on the frescoes, who had directly participated in restoring the shrine after the Soviet period. In particular, this refers to His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry and the late Metropolitan Volodymyr, who are the archimandrites of the monastery, as well as the abbot of the Lavra, Metropolitan Pavel. According to her, the “restoration and decoration” of the Lavra “took place during the time of great Muscovite influence.”
