About 40 thousand Hasidim arrived in Uman

The Ukrainian city of Uman has become a center of mass pilgrimage: nearly 40,000 Hasidim, the vast majority of whom are foreigners, have already arrived here to celebrate the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah. To ensure public order and security, significant forces of the National Police of Ukraine are involved, assisted by Israeli law enforcers.
According to UkrInform with reference to the National Police, among the arrived pilgrims 38 thousand people are citizens of other states. Head of the National Police Ivan Vygovskyy held a coordination meeting on the organization of work of the units and personally visited the check points for the arrivals. He emphasized that the main task is to maintain public order and prevention of criminal and administrative offenses.
In order to fulfill these tasks in Uman there is a combined unit, including employees of various services: operatives, investigators, patrol police, dialog police, fighters of the special police battalion, cinematographers, explosion technicians, as well as rescuers of the State Emergency Situations Service and soldiers of the National Guard. At the entrances to the pilgrimage area there is a checkpoint regime, where persons and vehicles are thoroughly checked. The streets of the city are constantly patrolled by foot and car patrols.
An important component of security is international cooperation. According to the representative of the Israeli police in Ukraine and CIS countries Paul Timkivsky, Israeli police officers arrived in Uman to assist their Ukrainian colleagues. He praised the level of training and work of the Ukrainian police and confirmed that Israeli law enforcers will remain in the city until the end of all Rosh Hashanah celebrations.
Recall that the annual celebration of Rosh Hashanah, which supporters of Hasidism perform in Uman, will arrive about 45 thousand pilgrims from Israel. The celebration will take place from September 22 to 24, 2025.
