Vladimir-Volynsk diocese of the UOC lost another trial for the Cathedral and diocesan administration

In the city of Volodymyr (formerly Volodymyr-Volynskyi), a protracted legal epic around the complex of premises of the Holy Dormition Cathedral of the UOC, which is an architectural monument of national importance, continues. on September 18, the Economic Court of Kyiv held a regular session on the suit of the Vladimir-Volynskyi diocese of the UOC against the Volyn regional military administration. The religious organization tried to obtain recognition of the extended contract of gratuitous use of the complex of buildings of the cathedral, but the court closed the proceedings. Oleksandr Gargola, a lawyer of the Volyn OVA, explained to journalists: «They asked to prolong what legally does not exist anymore. After all, the Supreme Court finally recognized this contract as invalid. And an invalid contract does not generate any legal consequences, and it cannot be prolonged«.

The next key stage in this process is scheduled for October 9 at the North-West Economic Court of Appeal in Rivne. There, the appeal on the main case of the premises’ release will be considered. In addition, the Economic Court is considering another case, in which the Vladimir-Volynsk diocese of the UOC seeks recognition of its right of permanent use of the temple.
