MP Guz discussed the "eviction" of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church from the Cathedral in Volodymyr-Volynskyi with the head of Volynskyi Regional State Administration

Ukrainian MP Ihor Guz held a meeting with the head of the Volyn regional state administration, Ivan Rudnytskyy, to discuss the process of expropriation of the Holy Dormition Cathedral of the Volodymyr-Volynskyy diocese of the UOC in the city of Volodymyr-Volynskyy into state ownership. The MP asked the head of Volynskyy Regional State Administration to ensure assistance of law enforcement agencies in this matter.

According to the BUG publication, during the conversation the main attention was paid to the plans of the executive authorities to implement the procedure of returning the cathedral and the role that law enforcement agencies should play in this process. Igor Guz expressed concern that the legal proceedings have been going on for more than a year.

«The case on the return of the Assumption Cathedral has been dragging on in the courts for more than a year. There is a decision of the first instance and eviction appeals, but representatives of the Moscow patriarchate continue to file appeals against appeals, deliberately delaying the process and remain in the temple,» — said the MP. He emphasized that he will continue to insist on the execution of court decisions and the return of the shrine to the state.

Igor Guz said that he is in favor of a peaceful and balanced solution to this issue. «But if the religious entity, which is part of the Russian Orthodox Church, will continue to act unlawfully, we must be ready for any scenario, » he concluded, emphasizing the readiness for decisive action in case of further disregard for the legislation.

Recall, earlier we reported that in the city of Volodymyr-Volynskyi continues a protracted legal epic around the complex of premises of the Holy Dormition Cathedral of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which is an architectural monument of national importance. on September 18, the Economic Court of Kyiv held a regular hearing on the suit of the Vladimir-Volynsky diocese of the UOC against the Volyn regional military administration. The religious organization tried to have the contract of free-of-charge use of the cathedral buildings extended, but the court closed the case.
