UOC-KP: Public outcry helped break Filaret's isolation

The head of the Sumy Diocese of the UOC-KP, Nikodym Kobzar, said that the hierarchs of the UOC-KP managed to break the information isolation of Filaret Denisenko. According to him, this became possible due to the public disclosure of the actions of Filaret’s relatives, who, fearing a public outcry, were forced to show him to the public.
In his address, quoted by the Telegram channel “For the Ukrainian Church,” Nikodim Kobzar emphasized that the publication of the “atrocities of the Patriarch’s family” was a key factor in achieving this goal. “The patriarch’s family, being afraid of the public disclosure of their crimes, was forced to show His Holiness Patriarch Filaret,” the statement reads.
The representative of the UOC-KP assured that the hierarchs will continue to closely monitor the situation. He warned relatives, “curators and representatives of the OCU” that any attempt to encroach on the freedom of will of the Patriarch will be immediately made public. “We will not leave our Patriarch until his last breath,” the Archbishop added.
As reported, on November 11, 2025, a working meeting was held between the head of the UOC-KP Filaret Denisenko and the organization’s administrator Andriy Marutsak. During the meeting, current issues of church life were discussed, and the main result was the decision to accept a new religious community into the UOC-KP. This is the first public appearance of Filaret Denisenko after his meeting with the head of the OCU Epiphany Dumenko.
