Supreme Court sets date for hearing the case on liquidation of the Kyiv Metropolitan Church of the UOC

The Supreme Court of Ukraine will consider the case on the termination of the Kiev Metropolitanate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church on December 16, 2025. The hearing will be held on appeal following a lawsuit filed by the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience (DESS), which is seeking to ban this religious organization.
According to the information published on the official website of the DESS, the Cassation Administrative Court of the Supreme Court completed preparatory actions on November 18, 2025 and scheduled the hearing of case No. 855/11/25. The hearing will start at 15:00 and will be held in the building of the Cassation Administrative Court in Kyiv.
The key issue at the hearing will be the consideration of the application of the DESS to take measures to secure the claim, the ultimate goal of which is to stop the activities of the Kyiv Metropolitan Church of the UOC on the territory of Ukraine.
Earlier we reported that the State Service of Ukraine for Ethno-politics and Freedom of Conscience (DESS) appealed against the court decision that refused to take interim measures against the property and accounts of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. These measures were requested as part of a lawsuit to completely stop the activities of this religious organization on the territory of Ukraine due to its established ties with the Russian Orthodox Church.
