Lviv regional authorities continue restoration of UGCC churches for budget funds

During the current year, restoration work was successfully completed on two unique objects of wooden architecture in Lviv region. The restored UGCC churches, located in the villages of Klitsko and Isai, are architectural monuments of national importance. The works on two more historical sites are planned to be completed next year.

As Divis.info reports with reference to the press service of Lviv Regional Council, this information was confirmed by the director of the Department of Architecture and Urban Development of Lviv Regional Administration Olena Vasilko. According to her, in addition to the completed projects in Klitsko and Isai, restoration has also begun in the churches in Kugaiv and Drohobych. All four sites have the status of monuments of national importance.

The church in the village of Klicko is of special historical value. It was built in the late 16th century, and its outer walls still have ancient inscriptions, the earliest of which dates back to 1603.

The temple in the village of Isai is one of the oldest surviving examples of wooden church architecture in the Carpathian region. Its construction dates back to 1663, and the project belongs to the architect Ilya Panteleimon.

We will remind, earlier we reported that 9.4 million hryvnias will be allocated from the budget of Lviv region for the restoration of the UGCC church. We are talking about the wooden church of the Descent of the Holy Spirit in the village of Verkhnyaya Rozhanka, Slavsky district, Lviv region. At the same time, according to media reports, a corruption component was revealed in the process, as the prices for restoration materials were significantly inflated.
