Only 500 chaplains from 13 religious organizations of Ukraine are represented in the AFU

A total of 500 chaplains representing 13 religious organizations provide spiritual support to Ukrainian servicemen in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The largest number of chaplain mandates traditionally remains with representatives of the OCU and the UGCC. This was announced by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Denis Shmigal during a speech at the Military Prayer Breakfast, reports Interfax-Ukraine.

“Special words of gratitude to military chaplains. Almost 500 spiritual leaders from 13 religious organizations are delivering the word of God to Ukrainian soldiers today. They come to you to defeat pain and despair, to strengthen faith and give hope,” – said Schmigal.

We will remind, earlier the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved changes to the “Regulations on the procedure for issuing a mandate for the right to carry out military chaplaincy activities” in the Armed forces of Ukraine. According to the new amendments, the UOC priests are finally prohibited from performing chaplaincy activities in military units of the AFU.
