An ecumenical prayer service in honor of Military Chaplain Day was held at St. Sophia Cathedral

In honor of Military Chaplain Day, a solemn ceremony was held at St. Sophia Cathedral in the capital, bringing together representatives of various religious denominations. The participants held a joint prayer service for the well-being of Ukrainian servicemembers, their families, and the entire country.
Military chaplains representing the Jewish, Muslim, and Catholic communities, as well as clergy from the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, took part in the ecumenical prayer service. The joint service brought together not only religious leaders but also military personnel, representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine command, and a large crowd of the public.
The staff of the “Saint Sophia of Kyiv” Reserve expressed their deep gratitude to the military chaplains for their selfless work and the support they provide to the defenders during this difficult time for the country. It is worth noting that earlier, the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations (ACCRO) officially appealed to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, calling for Military Chaplain Day to be officially recognized at the state level.
As a reminder, we previously reported that after four years of war with Russia, the staffing level of chaplains in units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stands at about 60%. Given this situation, the state still legally restricts the admission of clergy from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to chaplaincy service, while actively mobilizing UOC clergy and enlisting them in the Armed Forces of Ukraine as enlisted personnel.
