In Ternopil region Roman Catholics will be given an ancient church for free use

In the village of Yagilnitsa, Chortkivsky district, Ternopil region, the ancient church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary will be officially handed over to the Roman Catholic community for free use. The ceremony of signing the relevant documents is scheduled for December 16.

According to the terminovo.te.ua news and analysis website, this information was confirmed by the Chortkiv district state administration. The head of the department for humanitarian issues of the regional state administration, Halyna Chaikovska, has already inspected the building to assess its current condition and collect historical data about the church.

The church, built in Baroque style, was erected in 1842 on the site of an old wooden church. Historically, it is linked to the ancient history of the local parish. A significant contribution to its restoration was made by Karolina Lyantskoronska, the last representative of the Lyantskoronska family, who lived to be 104 years old and had time to see the fully renovated church.

Representatives of the Chortkivska Regional State Administration, including Halina Chaykivska and the head of the Yagilnitsky Starostynskyi district, Mykhailo Pulyak, together with a representative of the Roman Catholic parish, inspected the church building. During the inspection they delved into the historical details of the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which is inextricably linked to the history of the local community.

We will remind, earlier we reported that the Supreme Court of Ukraine obliged the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy to transfer the Church of St. Nicholas in Kiev to the capital’s Roman Catholic religious community. The parish of St. Nicholas Church in Kiev reported that the Supreme Court of Ukraine (Cassation Administrative Court) rejected the cassation appeals of the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications and the National House of Organ and Chamber Music.
