Court rejects prosecutor's office accusations of "Ukrainophobia" against Metropolitan Theodosius

The Sosnovskyy District Court of Cherkasy has rejected accusations by representatives of the regional prosecutor’s office of «Ukrainophobia» and «negative attitude towards the population of Ukraine», which the prosecution put forward as arguments for aggravating the preventive measure against Metropolitan Theodosiy of Cherkasy and Kanevskyy, the hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The judge concluded that the prosecutor failed to substantiate his accusations in fact. About it reports the Telegram-channel of the Cherkassy diocese of the UOC.

«The assertion of the prosecutor that Snigirev D.L. (Metropolitan Theodosius) has pronounced Ukrainophobic sentiments, has a negative attitude towards the Ukrainian population, is unfounded and has not found its confirmation in the course of the trial…. To date, the court has not established, and the prosecutor has not proved the risk of illegal influence of the accused on the questioned victims and witnesses … After 09.04.2024 the accused was not announced suspicions of criminal offenses; final decisions (sentences) in other criminal proceedings in respect of Snigirev D.L. have not been issued», — stated in the published decision of the court.

Earlier we reported that the hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Theodosius of Cherkasy and Kanev, has been discharged from the hospital and will continue treatment on an outpatient basis. His health condition does not yet allow him to return to full public ministry, but he expressed his deep gratitude to all those who provided him with prayerful support during this period.
