Cathedral of the Assumption of the UOC in Volodymyr transferred to the balance sheet of the OCU

The complex of buildings of the Holy Dormition Cathedral of the Volodymyr-Volyn Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the city of Volodymyr, which was previously taken away from the UOC by the state, has been officially transferred to the balance sheet of the OCU. This is reported by bug.org.ua.

According to the publication, the transfer was announced by MP Ihor Huz on his Facebook page. The politician called this decision “unequivocally correct,” emphasizing that it is in the interests of the state and Ukrainian society.

The parliamentarian also dispelled fears that after the transfer the cathedral would be “deserted.” According to him, the shrine, on the contrary, will receive a full-fledged church life in the near future. It is expected that the local diocese of the OCU will take over not only the cathedral itself but also the entire complex of buildings.

Ihor Huz informed that the public would be informed in a timely manner about the date of the first religious events to be held under the leadership of the head of the OCU, Epiphany Dumenko.

The MP expressed confidence in the continuation of the process of “cleansing the Ukrainian spiritual space”. He expressed hope that over time, other significant religious sites in Volyn, including the monasteries in Zymne and Nyzhnychi, will also come under the omophorion of the OCU.

Earlier, we reported that the process of removing property previously owned by the UOC religious community from the Holy Dormition Cathedral in Volodymyr, which was previously expropriated from the Volodymyr-Volyn Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, has been completed. The church, which has been empty for more than two months, is sealed and guarded, and may soon be transferred to the OCU.
