Hearing in the case of Metropolitan Theodosius of Cherkasy postponed due to lack of expertise

The session of the Sosnovsky District Court of Cherkasy in the criminal case against Metropolitan Theodosius of Cherkasy and Kanev of the UOC was postponed. The reason was that the interrogation of the expert who analyzed the video materials with the statements of the accused was not completed.
According to the 18000 portal, the expert was questioned during the hearing. However, at the request of the prosecutor, the court decided to postpone the hearing in order to continue the interrogation.
The next court hearing is scheduled for February 10 at 10:00.
As reported, on January 12, 2026, the Prydniprovsky District Court of Cherkasy held a regular hearing in one of the five criminal cases brought against Metropolitan Theodosius of Cherkasy and Kaniv (Ukrainian Orthodox Church). At this meeting, the prosecutor of the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor’s Office, together with the OCU cleric Yosyp Zasansky, demanded that the Metropolitan be sentenced to two years in prison. The accusation is related to a sermon delivered by the bishop in support of nuns who had previously been expelled from their monastery.
