U.S. Congresswoman demands explanations from Ukraine's representative on raider seizure of UOC church

U.S. Congresswoman Anna Pauline Luna intends to demand explanations from Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United States Olga Stefanishyna regarding the raider seizure of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the village of Kuzmin, Chernivtsi region, by supporters of the OCU.

In her account on the social network X, the politician stated that despite her previous warnings about the raider seizure of the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the UOC, actions to alienate it continue. Congresswoman Luna emphasized that Anatoliy Mykhailyuk, whom she called a «local oligarch» who is forcing residents to «illegally seize» the parish, is involved in this process.

In her statement published on the social network X, Ms. Luna wrote: «Despite my warnings, the seizure of the Church of the Nativity in Kuzmyn is still being promoted by Anatoliy Mykhailyuk, a local oligarch who is forcing residents to illegally seize the parish. I expect Stefanyshyna to explain her position to her colleagues in my office this week.»

Earlier, political analyst Kostyantyn Bondarenko said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and others involved in the persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) will have to answer to the United States.
