Patriarch Kirill wanted to learn Ukrainian language and lead autocephalous movement in UOC - Hovorun

Former Russian Orthodox Church cleric Kirill Hovorun, who was deprived of his dignity, claims that Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia planned to study the Ukrainian language before his enthronement. According to Hovorun, knowledge of the Ukrainian language was necessary for Patriarch Kirill to occupy the Kiev metropolitan cathedra. Moreover, according to the ex-archimandrite of the Russian Orthodox Church, the Primate of the Russian Church planned to lead an autocephalous movement in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. He stated on the air of the YouTube channel «Viche».

«I remember him very well. We worked very closely together for ten years and I remember how he was 25 years ago. […] I had hope that this was a new opportunity for the Church. Moreover, Kirill personally told me that he would like to learn Ukrainian, I had to teach him. And it is obvious to me now — that if he had not become Patriarch of Moscow — he was planning to come to Kiev and become Metropolitan of Kiev and become the head of the autocephalous movement in Ukraine. It is obvious to me that he had such plans,» — said Govorun.
