Ukraine plans to establish the Day of the Bible

MP Heorhiy Mazurashu has proposed an initiative to establish a new memorable date in Ukraine — Bible Day. The proposed bill provides for annual celebration without an additional day off, emphasizing the cultural and spiritual significance of the Holy Scripture for the Ukrainian society. This is reported by the official website of the Verkhovna Rada.
It is reported that the corresponding bill №15045 was registered in the Verkhovna Rada on February 24, 2026. The document proposes to supplement the list of holidays and memorial dates of Ukraine with the Day of the Bible, which will be celebrated in the manner prescribed by law, emphasizing its role in the life of society.
This is not the first legislative initiative of Heorhi Mazurashu, touching upon religious topics. Earlier, in October 2025, the MP proposed to amend the law «On the National Bank of Ukraine» to place the inscription «We believe in God» on Ukrainian banknotes. He also registered bills to introduce Thanksgiving Day without a day off.
