The ROCOR Council of Bishops voted for the canonization of Hieromonk Seraphim (Rose)

on May 4, 2026, during the Council of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia (ROCOR) in Munich, a decision was made to canonize the famous spiritual writer and missionary Hieromonk Seraphim (Rose). According to sources, the bishops voted in favor of his canonization, which is a long-awaited event for many Orthodox believers around the world.
According to the SPJ portal, at the moment this information is preliminary and awaits official confirmation. Hieromonk Seraphim (Rose) is the author of fundamental works that have had a tremendous impact on modern Orthodox life. Among his best known works are «Orthodoxy and the Religion of the Future,» «The Soul After Death,» and «The Secrets of the Book of the Apocalypse.»
Earlier, in December 2025, at a meeting of the Synod of Bishops in New York, a commission to study the life, legacy and veneration of Hieromonk Seraphim was officially established. The work of this commission was headed by Bishop Jacob of Sonora, Vicar General of the Western American Diocese. The decision of the Council of Bishops in Munich was a logical continuation of the process of recognizing Father Seraphim’s merits before the Church.
