In London, Orthodox Christians joined the March for Life

On September 5, 2026, the annual March for Life took place in London, bringing together tens of thousands of participants who spoke out in support of the sanctity of human life. Orthodox Christians traditionally took part in this large-scale march through the streets of the British capital.

The participation of the Orthodox community in this significant event takes place with the blessing of Bishop Irinej of London and Western Europe of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia (ROCOR). The tradition was upheld once again this year: clergy began the day by conducting a prayer service, after which the faithful joined the general procession of marchers.

The organizational work to form the Orthodox procession was led by Priest Mark Tattum-Smith of the Mettenham Parish. A notable feature of this year’s event was the expanded representation: at the initiative of Bishop Irinej and with the support of hierarchs from other Orthodox jurisdictions in Britain, the Christian community presented a united front in the spirit of prayerful fellowship.
