In the Kyiv region, TRC officers mobilized the rector of a Ukrainian Orthodox Church parish

An incident occurred in the Kyiv region involving the forcible detention and subsequent transfer to a military unit of Father Nikolai Matvienko, the rector of the Assumption Church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the village of Kirdany. According to the Telegram channel “First Cossack,” the priest was detained by TRC officers with the assistance of law enforcement agencies.

According to the information received, Father Nikolai was stopped by police while riding a moped to the city of Tarashcha. Law enforcement officials accused the clergyman of failing to register for military service, after which they seized his vehicle and took him to the Bila Tserkva Military Registration and Enlistment Office. Despite assurances from military registration office staff that the priest would be released immediately after his documents were verified, he was held without contact with his family. Ultimately, as the source notes, the clergyman was forcibly sent to a military unit located in the Chernihiv region.

It is worth noting that this is not the first such incident involving representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Earlier, it was reported that a 24-year-old hieromonk was mobilized after being stopped by Military Registration and Enlistment Office staff while on his way to study in Athens.
