In the Democratic Republic of Congo, 127 people were baptized en masse

A major spiritual event took place in the city of Goma, located in the Democratic Republic of Congo: more than 125 people officially joined the Orthodox Church through the sacrament of baptism. The ceremony took place in the Church of St. Nectarius and became another confirmation of the active growth of the Orthodox community in the region.
According to OrthoChristian, the sacrament was celebrated on Sunday, May 3, in an atmosphere of «joy, rejoicing and spiritual delight.» The 127 newly baptized people ranged in age from infants of four months to elderly parishioners as young as 85 years old. The service was led by Bishop Timothy of Goma (Patriarchate of Alexandria), assisted by diocesan clergy.
This event continues a series of mass baptisms in the DR Congo. Earlier it was reported that 210 people were received into the fold of the Church at the end of December last year, as well as 105 people in February this year. The rapid expansion of the flock testifies to the successful missionary activities of the Patriarchate of Alexandria in Central Africa.
