People's Deputy Ihor Guz again demanded the eviction of UOC monks from the Miletskyi monastery in Volyn region

Ukrainian MP Ihor Guz has initiated an appeal to the government and law-enforcement agencies demanding that the complex of buildings of the Miletskyy monastery in the Volodymyr-Volyn eparchy be returned to state management. According to the MP, representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) continue to occupy the premises of the monastery despite the expiration of the lease term.
According to Guz in his Facebook account, – the lease agreement for the state property expired on January 1, but during the following months the responsible structures did not take measures to return the object to the state. In this regard, Igor Guz sent official appeals to the Prime Minister of Ukraine, the head of the Security Service of Ukraine, the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutor General and the Minister of Culture with a demand to take the situation under personal control.
In his statement, the MP emphasized that “the Moscow church should be evicted from state buildings.” In addition to the demand for the immediate release of the premises of the monastery in the village of Miltsy, the MP insists on bringing to justice local officials, who, in his opinion, have not ensured the implementation of the law within six months. Earlier, the issue of the status of the Miletsi monastery has already been raised during meetings of the MP with the leadership of the Volyn regional military administration.
Earlier we reported that the brethren and parishioners of St. Nicholas Monastery in the village of Miltsy in Volyn region appealed to U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance and Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna to protect their religious rights from the threat of eviction. The monastery, which has a history dating back some 700 years, is at risk of eviction after its lease expires.
