The lawsuit seeking to shut down the Holy Trinity Monastery in Korets has been suspended

The State Service of Ukraine for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience (DESS) officially announced the temporary suspension of court proceedings in Case No. 855/2/26, concerning the dissolution of the religious organization “The Korets Holy Trinity Women’s Stavropegial Monastery of the Moscow Patriarchate.” According to materials published on , the official website of the DESS, the relevant procedural decision was made by the Sixth Administrative Court of Appeal.
According to the court ruling dated August 14, 2026, proceedings in the case were formally resumed but immediately suspended again. This measure has been taken until the review of the previous court ruling dated March 16, 2026—which concerned the dismissal of the counterclaim filed by representatives of the monastery—is completed.
At present, the legal proceedings regarding the termination of the religious organization’s status remain at the appellate review stage. The full text of the court’s decision can be found in the agency’s official statement.
As a reminder, we previously reported that the media had determined the total value of the real estate owned by the Korets Holy Trinity Stavropegial Women’s Monastery of the Russian Orthodox Church, located in the Rivne region. Journalists expect that all of the monastery’s property will be expropriated by the state once the Holy Trinity Convent loses its legal registration.
