Kirill Budanov: The Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra Remains an Orthodox Shrine Outside the Realm of Politics

Kirill Budanov, head of the Office of the President, issued a statement regarding the status of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, emphasizing that this holy site has no connection to the ideology of the “Russian World.” According to the official, the monastery has been and remains exclusively a religious center that should not be involved in political processes.
In his official comment, published on social media, Budanov noted a fundamental difference between the concept of the “Russian World” and the spiritual significance of the Lavra. He emphasized that in such matters “there can be no politics,” refuting the existence of such phenomena on the complex’s grounds.
As a reminder, earlier, Maksym Ostapenko, director of the “Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra” National Reserve, presented a development concept for the shrine to the diplomatic corps, stating that in the future it should become the “Ukrainian Vatican.”
