In Lutsk, TRC officers detained a deacon of the UOC with many children, despite a stay of execution

On June 13, 2026, in Lutsk, personnel from the Territorial Recruitment Center detained Andriy Virny, a deacon at the Church of the Three Saints of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. According to relatives, the clergyman has a valid official deferment from mobilization as a father of three children, yet he is being held in the TCC building. There are also reports of insults directed at the deacon and his mother due to their affiliation with the UOC.

According to “First Cossack, the incident occurred in Volyn: TCC officers stopped the car in which Andriy Virny was traveling, after which they claimed that his deferment had allegedly expired.

The deacon’s relatives claim that the deferment documents are valid. According to published information, Father Andrei is a father of three children, which, as noted, entitles him to exemption from conscription. Currently, according to the source, the clergyman remains detained at the Lutsk Military Registration and Enlistment Office.

Separately, relatives reported that during the detention and subsequent proceedings, TCC officers allegedly used profanity and insults against the deacon and his mother, linking this to Andrei Virny’s affiliation with the UOC. According to them, accusations and the expression “we’re waiting for them” were directed at the family. At the same time, as the source clarifies, four biological brothers of the detained deacon are currently serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

As a reminder, we previously reported that in Kyiv, TCC officers detained Father Alexander Drobiazko, rector of the UOC’s Assumption Church. It is reported that the clergyman was taken to a police station, underwent a military medical examination, and was deemed fit for service; he is currently being held at a training unit in the Chernihiv region.
