The Romanian Orthodox Church has issued a statement opposing the gay pride parade in Bucharest

The Romanian Orthodox Church has expressed concern over the gay pride parade in Bucharest and called on believers to respond to societal challenges with prayer, peace, and respect for human dignity. The Patriarchate emphasized that the promotion of family models that contradict Christian teaching is cause for concern amid demographic and social problems.

According to the press service of the Romanian Patriarchate, the Church’s official communiqué states that the family, founded on the marriage of a man and a woman and the birth of children, is regarded as a gift and blessing from God, as well as the foundation of social life and the upbringing of future generations.

The Patriarchate’s statement notes that public events promoting alternative conceptions of the family are viewed by the Church as incompatible with Christian teaching. According to representatives of the Romanian Orthodox Church, such actions may exacerbate a crisis of values in a society already facing demographic decline and social instability.

At the same time, the Romanian Patriarchate specifically emphasized that Orthodox Christians should not respond to these events with aggression. The Church rejects insults, humiliation, and violence, calling such actions contrary to the Gospel of Christ’s love. Believers are advised to maintain a peaceful attitude and turn to prayer.

As a reminder, we previously reported that a major scandal erupted on social media surrounding the activities of the LGBT organization UkrainePride, whose representatives published a series of posts that offended the religious feelings of Christians. The incident sparked a wave of outrage among believers, civil society organizations, and military personnel, who are demanding a legal assessment of the activists’ actions.
