The Romanian Patriarchate has expressed its sorrow over the attack on the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra

The Romanian Patriarchate has expressed deep concern and sorrow over the attack on the historic Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra—one of the most important centers of Orthodox spirituality and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The statement emphasizes that such attacks harm not only the religious community but also the common cultural heritage of humanity.

According to the Orthodoxia News Agency, the Romanian Patriarchate noted that the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra holds exceptional religious, historical, and cultural significance for the Orthodox world and global culture.

The published statement reads that “every blow to a place of worship and a monument of such religious, historical, and cultural value is a loss for all of Christianity and the world heritage of humanity.” These words, as indicated in the statement, reflect the position of the press service of the Romanian Patriarchate.

The Romanian Patriarchate also called for an end to violence and the restoration of peace. The statement calls for prayer to God “for an end to violence, the restoration of peace, the protection of human lives, and the preservation of spiritual and cultural heritage” in the zone of armed conflict.
