The Ukrainian Foreign Minister informed the U.S. Secretary of State about a fire at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra caused by shelling of Kyiv

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga met with Marco Rubio during President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to the G7 summit and informed him about the shelling of Kyiv by Russian forces, which resulted in hits on the Assumption Cathedral of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, as well as other civilian, cultural, and historical sites.
According to LB.ua, Sibiga wrote on the social media platform X that he met with Rubio to exchange views ahead of the leaders’ scheduled talks. According to the Ukrainian foreign minister, the meeting took place in the context of Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s participation in the G7 summit.
The Ukrainian foreign minister briefed Rubio on Russian strikes against the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra and other civilian, cultural, and historical infrastructure sites. Sibiga emphasized that Kyiv is counting on the United States’ decisive leadership and engagement in further progress toward a just peace.
