In Mozambique, 22 people were baptized at a parish of the African Exarchate of the Moscow Patriarchate

In the province of Zambezia in Mozambique, 22 local residents received the Sacrament of Baptism at the parish of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, which belongs to the African Exarchate of the Moscow Patriarchate. The liturgical events took place in early June and were part of a clergyman’s tour of the exarchate’s communities in the north of the country.
According to OrthoChristian, the baptisms took place on Saturday, June 6, the day following the Feast of Pentecost. The sacrament was performed by Father Christos Sitoe, rector of the Holy Trinity Parish in Maputo, who was on a pastoral visit to the communities of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa in northern Mozambique.
The following day, on All Saints’ Sunday, the newly baptized received Holy Communion for the first time during the Divine Liturgy. This marked an important step in their entry into church life and participation in the Eucharistic community.
During the same trip, Father Christos also celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the parish of the Great Martyr Catherine in Zambezia. In addition, he held talks with members of the local communities on the fundamentals of the Orthodox faith.
At the parish of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, the priest also served a prayer service with the blessing of water, after which he sprinkled holy water on the parishioners and their homes. The visit was part of the pastoral work of the African Exarchate of the Moscow Patriarchate in Mozambique.
It should be recalled that in the province of Cabo Delgado in northern Mozambique , the historic Church of St. Louis de Montfort was completely destroyed as a result of an attack by extremists .
