Metropolitan Theodosius of Cherkasy and Kaniv was rushed to the hospital

On June 22, 2026, Metropolitan Theodosius of Cherkasy and Kaniv, administrator of the Cherkasy Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), Metropolitan Theodosius of Cherkasy and Kaniv, was urgently admitted to the inpatient ward of a hospital due to heart problems.
According to the press service of the Cherkasy Diocese of the UOC, the decision to hospitalize him was made by cardiologists. The specialists issued an urgent referral for the archpastor, requiring his immediate admission to the hospital under constant medical supervision. In light of the situation, the diocese called on the faithful to intensify their joint prayers for the bishop’s speedy recovery and improved health.
As a reminder, the Cherkasy Regional Court of Appeals previously upheld the sentence against Metropolitan Theodosius (Snigiryov), the head of the Cherkasy Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC),for “inciting religious discord and hatred.”According to the investigation’s findings, the bishop was found guiltyof “committing acts aimed at undermining interfaith peace in the region.”
