An Anglican "bishopess" publicly repented for the church's treatment of the LGBT community

Susan Bell, a “biscopessa” of the Anglican Church, issued an official apology to the LGBT community for the church’s longstanding practice of discriminating against and excluding members of sexual minorities from church life. As a sign of support for activists, she incorporated rainbow symbols into her vestments.
During her speech, Bell called the church’s actions “evil,” specifically emphasizing the unacceptability of so-called “conversion therapy.” The “bishop” stated that the Anglican Church bears direct responsibility for the spread of transphobia and biphobia, and called on her fellow believers to acknowledge their guilt for a “policy of exclusion” which, she said, has contributed to the isolation of LGBTQ+ people for many years.
As a reminder, we previously reported that the LGBT human rights center “Our World” issued a public appeal to the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations (ACCRO), insisting on the need to support the rights of the LGBTQ+ community as one of the key conditions for Ukraine’s integration into the European Union.
