In Rome, members of the LGBT movement marched carrying a "rainbow cross"

In the Italian capital, members of the LGBT community who identify as Catholics held a demonstration as part of the gay pride parade, carrying a “rainbow cross” through the city streets. The march was organized to demonstrate that it is possible to reconcile the Christian faith with a homosexual identity, which sparked widespread public debate.
According to Life Site News, the event was initiated by activists from the Mosaiko – Movimento Cristiani Arcobaleno (“Mosaic – Rainbow Christians Movement”) movement. Participants in the march emphasized that their activities are aimed at creating a space for “sharing faith” and fellowship within the community of LGBT believers.
Representatives of New Ways Ministry described the use of rainbow symbols as a public signal that, in their view, Catholic doctrine and LGBT ideology are not mutually exclusive. Participants in the movement also called for the legalization of same-sex marriage in Italy and for such couples to be granted the right to adopt children. Earlier, similar trends were reported in other countries, specifically instances of Catholic clergy officiating at same-sex weddings in Canada.
It should be noted that, as previously reported by , representatives of the Georgian Orthodox Church issued a high-profile statement accusing European Union leadership of exerting pressure to promote same-sex marriage in the country. According to church leaders, European diplomats openly asked the clergy to help promote the LGBT agenda among the population.
