Serbian Patriarch Porfirije congratulated Metropolitan Onufriy of Kyiv on his name day

Serbian Patriarch Porphyry sent an official message of congratulations to Metropolitan Onufry of Kyiv and All Ukraine on the occasion of his name day. According to the press service of the Serbian Patriarchate, the head of the Serbian Orthodox Church expressed words of fraternal support and prayerful unity on this momentous day.

In his message, Patriarch Porphyry emphasized the importance of the spiritual bond between the churches and offered prayers to the Lord that Metropolitan Onufry be granted strength, fortitude, and a long life in his ministry for the good of the Holy Church. The head of the Serbian Church noted that the flock of the Church of St. Sava shares in the joy of the feast together with the clergy and monastics of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

The text of the congratulatory message devoted special attention to the situation in Ukraine. The Patriarch expressed hope for the swift establishment of peace, the healing of the wounds of suffering, and the strengthening of the faithful in their witness to the Gospel. He called for brotherly love and mutual understanding to prevail once again in people’s hearts, praying that the Lord would grant the long-awaited righteous peace to the suffering Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
