In Vinnytsia, 46 million hryvnias from the city budget will be allocated for a large-scale restoration of the synagogue

The authorities in Vinnytsia have launched a large-scale project to restore the Reicher Synagogue—an architectural landmark from the early 20th century. According to a report by I-VIN.INFO, more than 46 million hryvnias are planned to be allocated from the budget for comprehensive restoration work.

The building, located at 11 Krasnogo Kresta Street, was constructed in 1903 based on a design by architect Grigory Artinov and funded by Dr. Isaac Reicher. After the end of World War II, the building underwent changes and was converted into a sports center; it currently houses a children’s and youth sports school.

According to the tender documentation, the contractor is required not only to ensure high-quality execution of the construction work but also to preserve the building’s authentic elements. The work plan includes a major restoration of the facades, cleaning of the brickwork, reinforcement of the foundations with reinforced concrete structures, and roof repairs. Special attention will be paid to the restoration of the interior’s historic structures, including the wooden gallery and staircases.

To carry out such a critical project, strict requirements have been imposed on tender participants: proven experience working with cultural heritage sites and a staff of qualified specialists in the field.

As a reminder, it was previously reported that a unique wooden synagogue is being restored in Uzhhorod with state support.
