Authorities in Kyiv reported that a hieromonk of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church had been detained by TRC officers

An incident involving a member of the clergy occurred in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv. According to media reports, officers from the TRC and the police detained Hierodeacon Gerasim (Kurkchi) of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. This was reported bythe Telegram channel “First Cossack.”
According to the information received, the detention took place on July 8, when the clergyman left his home after visiting his mother, to whom he had brought groceries. According to relatives, the actions of law enforcement officers and military registration and enlistment office personnel were unlawful. Subsequently, Hierodeacon Gerasim was taken to Bila Tserkva, and contact with him was completely lost for some time.
At this time, the source notes, it has become known that the clergyman is being held at the “Desna” training center. Relatives of the detained hieromonk have appealed to the faithful for prayerful support for his prompt release and continued good health.
