Ukrainian Baptists have established 160 new congregations in Europe since the start of the full-scale war

The migration crisis triggered by the Russia-Ukraine war has led to unexpected religious consequences: Ukrainian Baptist Christians who were forced to flee their homes have established about 160 new congregations across Europe. According to , the Christian megaportal inVictory, citing a report by the missionary organization European Christian Mission International (ECMI), this process has turned into a large-scale missionary movement.

According to the ECMI study, millions of Ukrainians who have been abroad since February 2022 have not only adapted to their new circumstances but have also begun actively establishing Baptist congregations. Many of them have redefined their status as refugees, viewing their stay in European countries as a spiritual calling and mission.

“Ukrainian believers carry with them not only deep pain and heavy losses, but also the hope they have found in Christ,” ECMI experts emphasize.

Jim Memori, ECMI’s Director of Strategic Partnerships, noted the high level of resilience among the Ukrainian Baptists he met at a recent conference in Poland. Despite being separated from their loved ones and the trauma of war, Ukrainians continue to show hospitality and share their faith.
