The Ministry of Culture has approved the holding of a Ukrainian film festival at St. Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv

From August 13 to 16, 2026, the “KinoBouquet” festival will take place at the “Sofia Kyivska” National Reserve, featuring film screenings, themed exhibitions, and public discussions. This was reported by Ukrinform.

The main venue for the event will be the Refectory, located within the ancient shrine. The festival program covers a wide range of topics, including discussions on war, cultural diplomacy, and an issue that the organizers describe as “cultural genocide.” Visitors will be treated to contemporary Ukrainian animated and short films, as well as photo exhibitions dedicated to combat veterans.

The central theme of the festival, held under the motto “Armed with Beauty,” is to position culture as a tool for resistance. The event will be part of the large-scale Bouquet Kyiv Stage project, which brings together literature, theater, and music. In addition to private screenings in the Refectory, the organizers have set up the “Kobzar Glade” venue and open-air film screenings, emphasizing the secular nature of the festival, which is being held on the grounds of a historic architectural complex.

It should be noted that the Refectory of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra recently hosted a presentation by a new paramilitary group called the “Christian Corps,” which brought together representatives of various radical organizations. This event served as a platform for coordinating the activities of a number of paramilitary groups that position their activities as a ministry based on religious principles.
