Armenia plans to build the world's tallest statue of Jesus Christ

Armenian businessman and politician Gagik Tsarukyan has launched an ambitious project to build a monumental statue of Jesus Christ, which is set to become the tallest in the world. The structure is planned to be erected on the summit of Mount Atis, located at an altitude of 2,500 meters above sea level, just 25 kilometers from Yerevan. This was reported by Christian Today.

The total height of the monument will be 101 meters, significantly exceeding the size of the famous Christ the Redeemer statue in Brazil. According to the project’s initiator, the monument is intended to become Armenia’s “calling card” and highlight the country’s status as one of the world’s oldest Christian nations. Tsarukyan is confident that Christianity will become the republic’s new brand, and that the statue itself will be visible from most parts of the capital.

Construction work on the project began back in 2022, but as of now, the structure has not yet been installed at the mountaintop. In addition to the statue, Gagik Tsarukyan is also working on the construction of a large-scale replica of Noah’s Ark. The entrepreneur himself describes these endeavors as “sacred” and hopes they will help him immortalize his name in history.
