In Italy, vandals have desecrated a statue of the Virgin Mary on the island of Ischia for the third time

On the Italian island of Ischia, in the village of Panza, yet another act of vandalism against a religious site has been reported: unknown perpetrators decapitated a roadside statue of the Virgin Mary, known as the Madonna Pelara. This incident marks the third time this shrine has been desecrated.
Local residents and activists from the Pro Loco civic organization expressed deep outrage over the incident. An official statement published on social media notes that the repeated attacks on this Christian image are unlikely to be random acts of hooliganism. According to the public, the acts of vandalism may be the work of someone who harbors animosity toward religious symbols.
Local activists have already begun preparations for restoration work, planning to repair the damaged statue in the near future. The incident has caused a widespread outcry in the municipality of Forio, where citizens are demanding that those responsible be held accountable for the systematic desecration of the shrine.
