A hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church made another visit to Cyprus

August 30, 2026, on the 13th Sunday after Pentecost, Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, presided over the Divine Liturgy at the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in Limassol (Cyprus).

According to the Orthodoxia News Agency ( ), this visit marked the final stage of the hierarch’s trip to the island. The service was attended by the church’s rector, Archpriest Pavel Povalyayev, as well as numerous pilgrims.

At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan Anthony addressed the faithful with an archpastoral message, in which he elaborated on the meaning of the Gospel reading that was read during the festive service.

As a reminder, on July 22, 2026, Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, paid a visit to Cyprus. During the trip, the hierarch held a series of meetings with representatives of the Cypriot Orthodox Church devoted to issues of interchurch relations.
