The Patriarchate of Jerusalem has taken emergency measures to manage the Monastery of St. Gerasimus of the Jordan

An emergency meeting was held, chaired by His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem, to discuss the health of the abbot of the Monastery of St. Gerasimus of the Jordan, Elder Chrysostomos, and to ensure the smooth operation of the monastery. According to the Orthodoxia News Agency ( ), the Patriarchate’s leadership decided to form a special body to manage the monastery’s affairs during the abbot’s illness.

To ensure proper order and the smooth operation of the monastery, a temporary three-member commission was established. The commission consists of Metropolitan Isichios of Kapitolias, Archimandrite Matthew, and Archimandrite Christodoulos. The commission has been entrusted with the responsibilities of administrative oversight and resolving the monastery’s day-to-day matters while Elder Chrysostomos is temporarily unable to fulfill his duties.

During the meeting, the members of the Holy Synod expressed their deep paternal concern for the abbot’s health. An official statement from the Patriarchate of Jerusalem emphasizes that those gathered offered fervent prayers to the Lord for the healing of Elder Chrysostomos, asking for strength and divine support for him during this time of trial.
