In the Kirovohrad region, officers of the Territorial Center for Combating Terrorism detained a priest from the Alexandrian Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church

On September 11, 2026, it was reported that Archpriest Alexei Mikitenko, rector of the Church of Saints Theodore and Anastasia in Alexandria, had been detained by TCC officers.
According to , based on information provided by the Alexandria Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, the incident occurred in the morning as the clergyman was on his way to the church to celebrate the festive Liturgy. After representatives of the military commissariat stopped the archpriest, he was forcibly taken to the TCC.
At this time, Father Alexy’s whereabouts remain unknown. There is currently no official information regarding his status or the reasons for his detention. Representatives of the diocese are calling on the faithful to pray fervently for the priest’s strength and for a swift and peaceful resolution to the situation.
As a reminder, on September 3, 2026, an incident involving the detention of a member of the clergy occurred in the Chechelnytskyi District of the Tulchyn Diocese. Officers from the Territorial Recruitment Center (TRC) forcibly detained Archpriest Dimitri Kolchenko, the rector of a Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the village of Britavka.
