The court hearing in the case regarding the dissolution of the Kyiv Metropolis of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church has been postponed

The Sixth Administrative Court of Appeal of Kyiv has decided to postpone the hearing in the case regarding the dissolution of the Kyiv Metropolis of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church once again. The next hearing is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on October 7, 2026.

According to information provided by Archpriest and attorney Nikita Chekman on his Telegram channel, the delay is due to the need to review a large volume of documents. During the current hearing, the panel of judges addressed issues related to the involvement of third parties in the proceedings and reviewed petitions from citizens. Due to the significant number of petitions filed by parishioners of the UOC who are defending their church, the court was unable to complete all the necessary legal procedures within a single hearing.

Throughout the day, rallies took place outside the courthouse, attended by believers who had come to offer their prayers in support of the lawyers. At the same time, as sources note, the atmosphere was tense: a group of radical individuals led by David Pshenichny carried out provocations, disrupting the prayer vigil and shouting threats at the lawyers and believers. Attorney Nikita Chekman confirmed the provocateurs’ aggressive behavior, including attempts to instigate scuffles, and called on supporters of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to intensify their prayers for the defense team, which is working under difficult conditions.
