The Vatican acknowledged the lack of significant results in peace initiatives regarding Ukraine

Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State of the Holy See, delivered a statement on the current status of the Vatican’s peacekeeping efforts in Ukraine during the conference “Faith and Reason in the Age of Artificial Intelligence” in Rome. The Vatican representative described the results achieved so far as extremely modest.

Despite the lack of immediate results, the cardinal emphasized the Holy See’s intention to continue its mission, which he called “diplomacy of sowing.” ““The results are fairly insignificant. The Holy See’s diplomacy has not yet yielded a harvest, so we hope that by continuing to sow, one day, God willing, we will be able to reap,” Parolin stated. The Vatican plans to continue its humanitarian efforts, which, according to Holy See representatives, could be the key to initiating negotiations and achieving a ceasefire.

The cardinal paid particular attention to the need to maintain dialogue with all parties to the conflict, openly opposing the isolation of any side. In his view, maintaining channels of communication with Moscow is a critically important condition for finding paths to peace. ““Only through dialogue can a solution be found,” — the Secretary of State emphasized, expressing hope for the creation of a platform that would ensure the safety and well-being of all parties involved.

As a reminder, Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem had previously announced his intention to act as a mediator to end the conflict in Ukraine.
