A bishop of the Roman Catholic Church criticized the Ukrainian authorities' actions regarding the property of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church

A hierarch of the Roman Catholic Church (RCC) in Ukraine, Bishop Vitaliy Kryvitsky of Kyiv-Zhytomyr, has sharply criticized government measures to seize the property of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

In a comment to the American publication “First Things” , Vitaliy Kryvitsky openly denounced the injustice of the government’s actions aimed at expropriating the Lavra and other church properties from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. He drew a historical parallel, comparing the current policies of the authorities to the methods of the Russian Empire, which “persecuted the Catholic Church for centuries.”

As a reminder, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov previously announced the submission to the UN, the OSCE, and the Vatican of a special report prepared by the Russian Foreign Ministry, which details violations of the rights of believers and the illegal actions of the Ukrainian authorities against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. This is already the third such document sent to international organizations to draw attention to the persecution of clergy and parishioners.
